Just a bit of an update on a few things that have happened at CAMS/AORCom.
The 2009 AORCom commissioners have been confirmed as, Marilyn Emmins (Vic) Bruce Waldron (SA) Russell Innes (Qld) Sue Zettl (NSW) Hugh Piercey (WA) and Andrew Wylie (Tas) with Ben Erceg (SA) as the new Chairman.
There is a couple of new faces, sadly our regular contributor to this forum, Dan Rogers was not reappointed.
A very positive piece of news for us off roaders i believe is that the new for 2009 Queensland appointed delegate to the CAMS Board is Laurie Svenson, an off roader from way back and he will be a very good voice for our discipline of motorsport on the Board. I also think he will be a very refreshing change of attitude at the Board level.
There has also been some changes in the employees at CAMS in Melbourne. If anyone has had to deal directly with the Rally and Off Road department you would most likely have communicated with Janah McLean who was the assistant to Campbell Andrea. Janah was exceptional in her role, probably one of the best employees thay have had there, but she received a very good offer to join Rally Australia and has left CAMS.
Lastly, at the CAMS National Awards Dinner recently in Melbourne it was announced that John Paterson has been awarded a CAMS Service Star, which is a very big honour. Unfortunately after recent events, the lustre of the Service Star may not be as bright as it could have been? Nevertheless, it is a great honour for John and deservadly acknowledges his contribution to motorsport.
