nope, the only west Aussie there was Alan Dobbs but has now moved to victoria.

We are dissapointed we couldnt come but we couldnt get bits for the gearbox quick enough.

But we will make up for it at Finke I assure you.

Mmmm, well i was at Mildura and i can tell you there was alot of talk about how there was no WA racers there. I can tell you this, there was someone high up in the sport that was not happy about it. There was a few comments made about it over the loud speaker thats for sure.

Hello fellow national off roaders,

This is Brian, I am useing Beau's account. Whats all this crap about no West Australians at mildura?? get a life, if our car's gearbox hadnt been stuffed up by the suppliers in U.S. we would definatly have been at Mildura, we have (in WA) maybe 4 cars that compete in the national events and most of your states have in excess of 15. So get a life, leave us alone. We are sorry that we havnt got more support in WA that the rest of the country would like, so I hope that all your snide remarks are not about just the few that are known to compete in the east.

Whilst no-one on this forum has the guts to just come out and say it, the remarks about no West Australians turning up for Mildura are i think unfairly being linked to WA getting a National Round. It seems some people have the view that as part of the process for WA getting a National Round that there should be more support and participation by WA competitors in the AORC. Whilst this was certainly one minor aspect discussed by AORCom when they debated allocating a National Round to WA, i feel it is quite wrong by some people to be having a go at WA competitors at this stage. Let's just think about it for a moment, the guys in WA raced at Hyden, Mildura was only 5 weeks later. It is a big ask to do Hyden, travel across the country to Mildura, back to WA and then travel all the way to Finke for the 3rd Round. I would suggest those WA competitors who are considering contesting the AORC would most likely bypass Mildura and instead concentrate on doing Finke and then maybe Millicent. So i think it would be prudent for everyone to hold off on their criticism until we get a few more events completed, besides it was not that long ago that i can remember the same sort of snide remarks being made about the competitors from the Northern Territory when Finke came into the AORC and look at the support those guys are giving the AORC now, let alone the level of quality of vehicles and outstanding results.

Tas, this is not a personal crack at you, more a view of how AORCom operates. Our commision has long made descissions based on the view of a noisy minority. I am not for one second saying that WA should not have a national round, I am just commenting on the process. Look at the recent changes to class 6. An internet survey was conducted with many loaded questions, the results were never made public but the rules were changed based on the effective view of one person. The way that Sea Lake was denied a national round even though the year before it had the highest number of competitors for any national event. You speak about the quality of cars comming out of NT, what has vehicle quality got to do with anything, don't we all pay the same amount for a licence? If our events are too close together then surely that is the fault of the commision. It has been my opinion for a long time that AORCom watches the ball ( the national championship), far closer than the game (our sport in general). I offer this as a closing question, why are our commisioners appointed rather than elected?

as u guys would no we try hard to get to as many as we can, we have been havin problems with our jeff fields auto lately so we couldnt make it to mildura, but we will be at finke makin a storm and probly a few more

As usual Stingray, your comments are very loosely based on your perception of things and a fair bit of uneducated and very biased opinions, which unfortunately make it very hard for anyone to consider comments from you in a serious manner, so i will naturally choose to ignore them. Until the day comes when you can contribute in a sensible, unbiased opinion to a debate, i for one will not entertain you. As for your closing question, for your information, any individual is able to nominate themselves for the Australian Off Road Commission. If you chose to learn some facts, instead of continuing your childish approach i think we could all be better off.

Tas, as you know I don't make personal attacks, so again I will resist the opportunity and as usual stick to the facts. As you have chosen not to "entertain me" this is for the benefit of others. I am well aware that anyone can nominate themselves for the Commission but who gets to vote them in, the Competitors or the other Commissioners? Even people with my low level of education can figure that one out. An opinion of anything is always biased, it has to be as it's that persons view of things. I would like to quote you "Any potential major change to a class structure must involve a long period of discussion and feedback from Competitors Australia wide and from all levels, ie club state and national" These are your works referring to Class 2. Can you explain why this didn't apply for Class 6? If I may, one more small question - When is the harness working group due to report? Remember them, they were set up to, and I quote the AORCom Chairman " to persue every possibility in bringing about a more sensible and acceptable situation" This was in reference to the two year age limit on seat belts. He wrote that in April 2002. I know, I know more uneducated biased childist dribble.
