More importantly, what's the Toyota truck in the background?
*Cough Splutter* *sprays bourbon on the keyboard* WHAT!! Dan mate, theres nothing more important than our car! haha!
It belongs to a couple of mates who used to run commodores. Theyre building the hilux with a Gen3 in it. Its coming together well, should be an awesome unit.
As for the wolf, the chassis is our own, as are the arms, front hubs and anything else we could manufacture ourselves to save some $$$!
First event will be Finke.
The cars are at No 1 Engineering, home of the oz-trucks. At the moment it looks like a chassis shop! Cheers to Mick fo the pics and for all his help on the car, thanks heaps to Paul Grant for letting us use his tools, space, tig skills and for the use of his mig, bender etc to build the trailer as well. Also thanks to Fay for providing us with lunch every weekend!

Your build has been one of epic proportions and has taken considerable time to get this far! Whilst my enthusiasm for your project and it's completion have ebbed and flowed with your progress, there is nothing more important than a new "tin top", particularly one in NSW where they seem to be unbelievably thin on the ground!
wolf , it look great mate , almost ready in time for fimke ha , is paul still on track for it , ash and big kev said they had a big weekend pauls over easter and it should be ready just in time ,

hey dan you could pop to the eastside for a race, we would love to have a crack at your tin top , we could meet at warrilda it could be a classic eastside /westside rubble in the streets of warri
Well, as the forum regulars would know we made it to alice with the car, but didnt make it down to finke.
The push to get it to the Finke was HUGE and we would never had made it without the assistance of Number One Engineering.
Thanks to Paul Grant for the use of his shed, tools and time. If it wasnt for him the task of getting to Finke would have been much harder, if not impossible.
We've found some weak spots on the car (as you could imagine after running Finke in an untested vehicle!) namely the front end setup was much too soft resulting in the shocks pounding the chassis which did a bit of damage, but nothing insurmountable. We snapped an upper a-arm which was what put us out of the event about 10km after a sphincter clenching off-track excursion, but we've got our jigs and will make it better for next time!
After only a few km of testing the suspension and steering needed some attention, but by the time we hit the Alice to Finke leg the rear of the car was much better, the car was handling ok and mechanically it was performing faultlessly.
We'll be doing an upgrade on the front end in the future adding by-pass, boxed arms and new spindles/hubs, but not yet. For now, we'll fix what weve got and go racing!
Our next task is to get the commodore boys hilux up and running. They helped us out heaps to get to Finke and also while we there. Its time to repay the favour!
Thanks heaps to the following people, your assistance/advice was invaluable!
Paul, Fay and Mark-Paul Grant, Number One Engineering Big Mick The commodore boys - Ash, Kev, Chris and Brad for their help before and during the event Cameron Ritchie, Racer Imports Bill Croft, Unicap Ivan Grieve Aaron McClintock Chris Western, Off Road Rush and everyone else Ive forgotton!
Thanks also to our families - Alix and Briony, Tina and Rowan, for their support and for the fact that we were ghosts for the 2 months prior to leaving!
