In my buggy racing experience, one of the hardest things is organising child care if the husband and wife want to race together, especially at long course events.
Does anyone think that maybe they would support someones off-roader teenager operating a creche/minder set-up at a race meeting?
I would be happy to set- up around my camp with a TV etc, as long as someone could watch the kids while we're in the buggy.
Could be a great way for a babysitter to make a bit a bit of 'pocket money'!
I might be interested in racing mildura, anyone have any ideas/suggestions/babysitters?
Jones, great idea, though the only thing I would suggest may cause an problem is insurance. I know, it shouldn't matter, but there will always be someone, somewhere who's kid will fall over and scratch their knee and the parents will be screaming blue murder. Not sure what it is like in NSW, but I think in VIC if you look after kids in this sort of situation you are supposed to have police checks, etc done (or something along those lines).
Yeh, I know about all that, and I know what COULD happen, but I was hoping that concern would NOT have been an issue! Just wanted to get back to basics (the days of a 'handshake deal' and 'trust')
I was hoping for a simple babysitting transaction, just like 'the good old days'...or living in Ardlethan!

I agree, that is all it should need to be. And like you said, hopefully the off road community is the one area of society that can make a simple agreement like that work.
I am lucky, I don't have the problem of worrying about who is looking after kids :) Of course, I aslo don't have a nice Chenowth to race around in either:)
hahaha True, but in the last 6 months I have bought a new motorbike (road) and a few weeks ago a new fishing boat.... between that and doing work on the house, it doesn't leave a lot on the side for a Chenowth!!
Jonesy I agree entirely. I can remember many Colo's that the adults rotated minding dutioes between races. We have always relied on the grandparents for minding duties. Now that our kids are of an age they can travel with us, I have just bought a Coaster to fit out so they can join us at the races. If we are at the same race then by all means let the kids get together and hopefully common sense will prevail.
