Australia's most raced offroad car???

With the ex-papa smurf buggy being retired I was wondering if it is Australia's most raced car.

Hey Wayne, how many events is it up to?

I'd like to put up the Baja as it was built in 87-88 and being the original builder of the 260 frame a couple of years later, I know there's couple of years there where log books were only entered for national races during this time being keen to race anything, I raced and won championship at both sydney clubs SRVA and SORBA. But then my car is still a spring chicken compared to my fathers. There's a lot older cars that would be hard to tell the real number races especially prior to the logbook being entered for club races. Is there anyone that has raced the same car for longer than my father, I think he built the car in 85-86.
The Baja is on it's 3rd logbook

Not to mention my mothers car which was built early 80's maybe even late 70's and was one of the original 2 Irons frames which were on the cutting edge of technology as they were one of the first frames not to be based on a vw floorpan, which was raced by the whole family at some point, then sold to the Current State champion Steve Taylor, Who would not only race ot at off road but also rally Khanacross events where this car was 9 out of 10 multi-entered. I'm not sure where it is now , but it was sold as a ready to race off road car from steve a year or so back.

Unfortunately I can't remember much about Off road prior to 76 as my memory seems to fail me a bit in my first 5 years.

Sorry guys I seemed to hijack this thread as a family history page.

No need to apologize Family History is one of the best things about this form of motorsport.

Just also like to add, What a fantastic thread. I find the history of cars and drivers very interesting. And to know that there is buggys built way back before I was born that are still competing successfully is great.

I cant say either of the Cripps buggys are in with a chance for this one as they both sat around retired for a number of years before we gave them a new life.
But still, They are older frames with alot of history.

I'll check the log book tonight, I know it's well into number 3, you never know, it might appeal to somebody after the new ones built, the frame & log book will still be around, even though it's parked it still looks clean & tidy.

Maybe it should be bronzed & put on a pedestal in my front yard with a bird feeder on it. I know it won't be the only logbooked bird feeder out there because Jones' buggy aready is a cicken coop.

Sounds like Grants car has more than mine if he's near the end of book 3 (40 per book? ) I count 111 races. An interesting list if anyboby wants a breakdown of tracks/venues. First raced in may 92 Griffith.

I raced agianst that car in the state rounds that year when it was new. Papa did nearly every clubby event that year, and as Warren said, log books were'nt required at club level, so I reckon you could add a few more races to its history.
I remember at Griffith and Kempsey we traded placings as I had mechanical faults and he would pass me, then he would stop for a wee and smoke break and I'd pass!!
I think we both finished every event that year.

How's this one, can anyone beat Popa's attendances in six years as follows;'92- 10 races, '93- 12 races, '94- 8 races, '95- 8 races, '96-8 races, '97-9 races, & in there are Kempsey's, Griffith's, Stadiums & all. Thats a lot of travelling

I only have 88 logged races, but in 89 say ive got 5 entries in my log book but I have trophies for 10 different events, going by trophies, The baja has been to an additional 20 races which leaves me 3 short on 108.(additional info in brag book that I kept up till 95)

fuel was much cheaper in the early days, imagine just the cost of fuel spent these days compared to then, the fuel alone these days  for 10 races would be more than the cost to build the car in 88
