GRIFFITH 700 UPDATE

Griffith club had a meeting last night, just thought I would give all an update...
Anyone interested in sponsorship packages, please contact us.
Sponsorship for NSW state trophies is required.

At present, the running details will be
--scutineering and displays at showgrounds friday night
--recon and prologue saturday (allowance for further scrutineering if required)
--main race of 8 laps of approx 85km sunday, no cars can start another lap after the first outright car  completes all laps.
--3 non-compulsory 15min fuel stops allowed.....all other repairs etc on competitor time.

Camping should be available at the Blue-dot speedway, but council has not allowed any alcohol to be consumed.  An alternative camping area might be available at the showgrounds.

Entry fees are hoping to be lower than some of last years events?

We are a bit unsure of entry numbers, some feedback would be good, please use poll attached, as we dont really want to put a limit on numbers.

jonesy, what happens if you get passed by the leader and can't start your last lap, are you still classed as a finisher or do you get a DNF even though your car is still going  confused.gifconfused.gif

2204-You are still a finisher!
There will be a minimum amount of laps to be classed as a finisher (to be calculated yet, possibly 4?). Obviously there will be alot of cars that wont complete 8 laps, but timing and class placings etc will still be calculated accordingly.

Just a few updates--
Planning is going well for the Griffith MTQ 700 (still working out the exact name).
NSW state competitors will be allowed regional scrutineering, there will be no saturday scutineering at Griffith.
ALL buggies will be required to be on static display on friday nights 'show n shine'/scrutineering at the showground. This event is compulsory, and is important to the community and sponsors alike. Anyone not at the display will not get their event paperwork, therefore not allowed to race!
Camping is allowed at the Blue Dot speedway, a register of all campers names will be required. Names can be sent with entry. No alcohol will be permitted in the Blue Dot complex (Council requirements)
Camping also available at the showground, with powered sites approx $50 weekend.
Race track has been planned, and is approx 90km per lap.
A fuel tanker of mobil 98 (synergy) will be on site race day, fuel will need to be pre-ordered and paid with entry. Credits will be available on unused fuel with a surcharge of approx 3 c/ltr.

Has it been decided yet how long the NSW state race will be, will the NSW racers be required to be at the Friday night event? can the NSW racers be scutinerred on the friday night?

Any chance we will see a Siviour come out of retirement for a run??? I heard he still has a patrol at home!

Every entrant will be required friday night, including state entrants. Any entrant requiring scrutineering can be done friday night ( nsw competitors have been offered regional scrutiny as part of the state series).
Not 100% sure but I think state is 4 laps, will need to check though!

Still waiting on final CAMS paperwork, some special conditions need to be approved due to the fact we are not running sections, and refuel requirements etc. (bit different to the normal AORC rounds)
Track has been finalised and should have been approved by local council by now.
Some work has been done to the pit/camping areas (blue dot speedway)...having trouble with 'cat-heads' (big bindies) and trying to clean them up for spectators/campers etc.
Have got really good sponsors behind us already, and thank them for their generous support.
We also have great volunteer support (check points/recovery etc) who are looking forward to the return of the event.
Spectating should be good due to the fact there will be no stops all day, so cars should be circulating continuously.

Looks to be a HUGE event, entries might be limited to approx 100, so early entry would be recommended, when they come out!
