well the guys are on there way home after stopping in a my house this morning (well most of them are still some hangeroners) anyway that another story. they came here to give me the results and some photos. i have upload the photos to this link
Once again, I had a wonderful time at this event. For years I have not encouraged my wife Ann to co-drive - navigate. She was concerned about car sickness and I was concerned about getting lost. Well she did a great job in the silly seat and did not look like getting sick.
She even showed other people her drenched (dirt brown) driving suit, claiming it was not her but the big muddy water hole we went through that caused her to have a wet bum!
We had two punctures on the 130km section (with only one spare). We battled through, driving about 120km on a flat. There was little left of the tyre when we arrived at the service-meal break.
In the last stage for day 1, we were going well until about 300 metres from the finish (we could see it just up ahead) a rear wheel came off. With the help of some spectators our wheel was found. We raided wheel nuts from other wheels and managed to get a couple on the studs, as they were all worn and buggered. However we managed to get to the control, even though we had lost a lot of time.
I would like to thank all the people that came to offer help to get us going again. In particular I appreciated the generous support of Steve Taylor as he had wheel nuts and studs which we were able to use to repair our buggy.
We started day 2, however on the transport out to the first competitive section the gearbox developed a knock, and as much as I would like to have kept going, I figure the noise was not going to heal it self. So we decided to pull out.
The Condo 750 is a fantastic event, a great adventure and Ann and I will be back next year.
