RE: Side impact rules

Jones - i like how you think out side the box and weld another tube straight underneath the lower rail :)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was not my idea (the bloke who told me wants to stay anonymous), but it could be an option in some cases.

I'm not sure I would want to be the fella testing that rule in that way!

And by the way, the manual is still able to be purchased from the powers that be for a meager $22.00 or if you are an official $11.00

Thanks Ian, I was under the impression the book was no longer available, and I hadn't noticed the option with a licence renewal, but I will definately get one next year!

Meanwhile, I am just having trouble welding upsidedown trying to lower my floor rail....lol!

I saw at least four cars at Sea Lake with non compliant or no roof support bar. Don't know what's going on. I would have thought that if installing this bar was a safety requirement then you would not be able to run without it. It really makes a joke of the whole rule if people are able to compete in what AORCom has decided is an "unsafe" car.

IAN (Heyu)
Yes you can buy a manual, maybe this will save you the money though, because it says

OFF ROAD

>SEE WWW.CAMSMANUAL.COM.AU

I refer you to the GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR OFF ROAD VEHICLES
Mainly PAGE 5 and 8
The old rules said that a roof length has to be over 700mm.
This has been crossed out from Jan 2010 which means ALL have to have a minimum 25mm X 1.6 Roof Reinforcement.

Thats about right Ian, but......the book is still easier to find info IF I was looking  :)

BTW, got the mods done on the weekend, abouts 2hrs labour and $40 worth of pipe, $10 touch-up paint
