Just had an inspection and it was amazing the number of faults that were found (my car included) in the cars. fortunatly most were only very minor but it goes to show that perhaps the powers that be were correct and this inspection should have been started years ago
Yeh....so lucky to have found those faults.......I am still amazed at all the fatalities we have had over the past years that this inspection will prevent!!!!!!!!!!!!
Still think its all a load of sh.t! No offence intended to you andy Just the opinion of someone who HAS been known to test drive his buggy without a helmet.
The idea is that when you pull it down ,you check it out ,fix, then bring it along to the scrutinineering?
the scrutineers shouldn't find anything wrong, hopefully. If there is a problem. I'm sure they will sort out time and place for checking the problem once you have fixed it. they won't have to check the whole lot again, only the problem.
see you there , mine is almost ready for it!
So how ready was it for this check.
everyone is pretty quiet so far about how the checks went, I am curious to hear how everyone got on.
Those who turned up seemed fairly well prepared for the Sydney inspection day. I was there for about 3 hours and saw 4 or 5 cars go through. There were others who went through before I got there. The scrutineers told me that a number of cars had failed inspection but none of them had any major defects and all could be rectified without too much trouble. Despite all the whinging on the forum and what at times seemed like hysteria everyone who was there was calm and collected taking all suggestions and directives from the scrutineers in the spirit in which they were given. Noone was there to stop people racing, they were just trying to make racing a bit safer. Congratulations to all who were there, both competitor and official. Everyone present took the inspection in their stride and no matter whether it was a pass or fail were happy to know either way. Now lets get on with the racing.
Carl, I neither can nor am I in a position to say exactly how many did not pass but it is up to the owners of those vehicles that did not pass to fix their cars and have them reinspected by scrutineers, hopefully passed and have their log book signed off before their next intended race. I believe the scrutineers were aware you weren't able to attend so I would suggest contacting Nick Nikiforoff when you are ready. I wouldn't worry, if your car is up to scratch it will sail through. Many went through on Saturday with no problems at all and that included buggies built way back in the 1980s. And theres no need to be sarcastic. The forum should be used for the passing around of useful, sensible information. The forum is only as good as those who use it.
No worries Carl. Give Nick a ring and see what arrangement can be made. Remember you will need it done before the first Colo club day in Feb if you want to race that weekend.
