DO SOME OF US NEED HELP TO UNDERSTAND NEW RULES I THINK THE ANSWER IS YES AND DOES AORCOM NEED EXPERT ADVISE MAYBE WE HAD OFFROADERS THAT YOU COULD PHONE TO ANSWER QUESTIONS ON CURRENT REGS IN YOUR CLASS WHAT A GOOD IDEA THAT WAS AND IN THIS DAY AND AGE WITH THE INTERNET YOU CAN EMAIL PHOTOS OF ANY THING YOU HAD A PROBLEM WITH AND ASK ALL THE DUMB QUESTIONS THE CURRENT SYSTEM OF GETTING INFORMATION TO US DOSN'T SEEM TO WORK VERY WELL AND THE NEW PEOPLE IN OUR SPORT NEED HELP NOT TO THINK ITS A CIRCUS
AORCOM COULD CALL ON THESE PEOPLE TO GET ADVISE ON IDEAS THEY HAVE . LIKE THE LAST COUPLE THEY HAVE HAD AND GET SOME IDEAS ON HOW BEST TO GO ABOUT THEM NOT JUST THROW THEM OUT THERE ALL THE MISSINFORMATION DOES NOT HELP ANYONE WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK DO WE PUT IT TO A VOTE OR DO WE TAKE IT TO OUR STATE COUNCIL AND SEE IF THEY CAN START SOMETHING ?
Bring it on! When I started out 20 years ago, you would open the CAMS manual and there was phone number of a contacted for each class. Now if somebody wanting to get into the sport at any level below the national there is very little official advise out there. The reintroduction of these contact people or even a well versed state based contacted for all off road enquiries, not just the upper ranks, would go a long way to attracting new people to the sport.
Gavin Mickle has suggested this before via this forum, I also think he may have contacted the relevent CAMS reps as well. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to get off the ground........but I reckon it would be a good idea!
Is this where you want me to come Gary? Yes i have suggested the class rep/s idea to a few AORCom members and they seemed to like the idea. I was told they would bring it up for discussion, take that anyway you like. If we had class reps and a system where communication between competitors and governing b bodies was quick and easy we wouldn't have to resort to threads like this to push our ideas. Why can't we as competitors help with re-writes of class rules which are all in need of updating. This will take pressure off AORCom to make decisions that they fear may upset to many people. I can't see the problem in giving this system a chance, it would help get competitors more involved in their chosen sport and may even improve it. Wouldn't that make a change. All we can do is get the numbers up of people making the same noise and keep that noise going. Lets see what we can achieve as a group!!!
Thanks Gav i have sent emails to a couple of aorcom members I may be jumping a few steps but i believe the new rules will continue to come the one Matt told us about tonight on having an extra fuel hose so they can check to see if your cheating with illegal fuel just goes to what we have been talking about
I think the new proposed/rumored extra fuel line to allow fuel to be taken for testing is ridiculous. This just allows another place where fuel can leak and plus the extra costs as you would have to have a valve fitted. Have a look at the number of buggies/trucks that have had fuel fires over the last few years. How hard is it for the official to carry a fuel siphon hose with them and open the fuel cap to take the sample? Will the person taking the sample be an official and will they have to comply with the rules about safety and clothing when taking the sample?
How many people have been caught with the incorrect Fuel or additives in the last 10 years?
Its about time these people who propose the new rules should be forced to justify to all the Offroad Racing Fraternity the reason why they want to implement the change.

Well said....the whole thing is getting beyond a joke!
All commissioners are contactable and are happy to talk to anyone about all matters, at all level of Off Road, not just "Nationals "
WWW.offroadracing.com.auhas a heading across the top called AORCom, under this you will find the contact and portfolio details (listed below), bulletins and updates, and minutes of the Commission meetings.
We only have two one day meetings a year (Feb /March and Oct /Nov), and all other communication is via email, this year we have also had two teleconference meetings which have helped in getting communication out sooner. In NSW all important information is passed to the panel and should be provided to the clubs from there. (I would also believe this is happening in other states).I have also requested that the CAMS office ensures the Scrutineers panels are kept in the loop.
As we havesaid before or and I'll say it again, the forum is a place of open discussion, and information sharing, but not the way to get the commission to follow up on matters (as a rule).
Please if anyone has any questions, concerns or good ideas please contact one of us, directly. Also anyone wishes to forward a written recommendation for the commission; we can supply you with the form. Our next meeting is 14th November.
