The last round of the New South Wales Off Road Championship is to be held at Sydney off Road Racing Associations home track at COLO PARK. This will also be the last round in SORRAs club Championship. The new Training room/Stewards/Medical/Dormitory room that was built with volunteer labour & a Grant from CAMS will be dedicated to the memory of Ross Barnes , a member who was an integral part of making COLO PARK what it is.
With the way the point score is set up , you are able to drop your worst two rounds and this year it is making the last race of the Championship at COLO PARK a must do for most of the protagonists. In the Prolite class, David Nikiforoff (190 ) has to run hard to ensure his top class spot, after his few problems at Nabiac haveleft him vulnerable, to 136Mick Latimore after his 3rd outright putting him in a position to topple him. The third spot for the year in this class is a real battle. Kevin Ottey 112 with his good run at Milbrodale, Gordon Tardrew 133, Phil Page 148 (last years Champion) and Michael Spokes 116 all within a few points. The 116 car of Michael Spokes won outright at his last race , any of this four could take it ,with Steve Taylor 181 just out of it . This is just the cars in this Class fighting for their Championship points plus a few other quick buggies to make lifea little harder for them.
In Pro Class, 996 Murray Bignells non finish at his last outing means to keep his outright position, he now has to finish in front of 985 Peter Sowter and 19 Justin Guy (two points between them)
Super 1650 class is also a must win for last years Class Champion 279 Derek Rose , 212 Scott McNeil is leading this class at the moment, but not having run in 2 events, he cannot afford to miss this round for his chance at Class honours.Chris Levi had a great shot for the top points but problems at Warialda &didnt front for Nabiac leaving the way open for 246 Shane McIntosh if he doesnt front at Colo PARK. Laurence Cripps, Dick Alport, Hugh Austin and Carl Calcagano being some of the spoilersin the mix.
Sportsman Class has the top spots already sorted but Billy Standing is a racer and likes the winning feeling and will be there for thelast race of the NSW Championship. Jarrod Eveliegh could tie for the third spotwith Katherine Wellings if he can emulate his efforts at Warialda. If Katherine comes down to race it will be interesting to see Alexandra Howells & Alicia Crowe, all three,( 2nd generation racers) in the same class doing battle. Gary Hyde(335) Joshua Howells and Gavin Sheppard will be keeping them all honest.
Paul Grant is hoping to have his gearbox repaired and back in the Oztruck( I guess its not that anymore, but they did put it all together here) to take his Daughter for a run, Dianne hasnt been in a race for quite some time now. Warren Irons in the Hogs Breath Café sponsored Pink VW will be there to help fly the flag for Extreme 2WD .
In Performance 2WD507 Mark Paul Grant will be debuting his rebuilt and modified truck for his first race this year. Jan Hedley, if she runs at this race will qualify for 2nd place in her class inthe NSW Championship. 510 Murray Collins has this class in the bag but a finish at COLO would help make up for last time there.
Production 4WD has two cars running for the points and both need to be at this round to qualify for the end of year prize, Simon Lennox 767 is leading the class from David Adams 710 by just 7 points. Scott Lovett in the 705 car will be making it hard for either of them to get a clear run at the full points on offer. Looking forward to seeing you all there for lots of top racing and for the dedication of ROSSs BARN.
We have about 19 entries so far, if you want to be in the program to give your sponsors some exposure (that 's value for money) you need to get your entry in ASAP. will post entry list monday, hopefully

It'll mean our water tanks are full. It would need to be almost monsoonal rain on the weekend to stop the event. So long as you dont mind getting wet it should be fine. Funny last year we had to pack up and evacuate early due to bush fires.
i can remeber a few years ago when we raced in the hail at colo , back in the glory days , lol , have fun every one , and you should all be able to sleep as i wont be there laughing my ass off around the camp fire , hahah

were we're goin we dont need roads.
it's not the speed of life that scares me, it's the sudden stop at the end ,
Sad To say but if the rain is to much i'll have to work out somthing with the fireworks :( sorry gys but no one likes firewrks in the wet, and if it's raining everyone will be in the beds keeping warm...
fire works wont happen if its too dry either. you will have to warn me if they are going to happen so I can take my kids for a drive away from the place.
Looking forward to the Fireworks dispay, had a talk to the weather man and he promissed me it would be good.
The dedication of ROSS's Barn will be taking place at 10am Saturday just prior to Drivers briefing at 10.15am
This building was made possible with a grant from CAMS for a Driver traing/Stewards/Medical room and with lots of hard work from SORRA Club members and guidance from Ross on this, his final project for the Club. We would like everyone to pass on this info to enable all interested parties the oportunity to be a part of this.
Bring on the Racing,Gonna be a top weekend, SEE YOU THERE!
All being well ,we will try to give updates over the weekend.

Goodluck to all competing this weekend, I probably should get organised next year and come up for a race (for old times sake) it has been about 10years since I last went up there!
The racing at Colo has been held in ideal conditions as the sun came out this morning, and with a heavy track and no dust 34 competitors hit the start line at Colo for the last round of the NSW Off Road championship.
Prologue was won by Warren Irons in the Hogs Breath Café pink Baja, with Murray Bignall second and Anthony Lia in the class 2, with regular Pro class competitor Glenn Spizzo navigating. 1st in class 1 was Michael Latimore with Billy and Traci Standing 1st in class 3 and a credible 8th outright. A notable omission from the proceedings was Michael Spokes, winner of the last round at Nabiac, who detected a noise in 2nd gear on reconnaissance and decided not to push his luck and withdrew from the event.
In the first race Anthony Lia took out the heat with an impressive sub 19 minute time. 2nd was Michael Latimore with David Nikiforoff 3rd. Daniel Attard was 4th and took the lead in class 4 with a most impressive display including the longest jump. Billy Standing moved up to 6th outright in the class 3, whilst prologue winner Warren Irons had to do the heat on 4 cylinders instead of 8 when an ignition module failed. The class 3 of Katherine Wellings and Elizabeth Lee had the misfortune to lose a wheel as did Scott Lovett in the class 7 Patrol. Gary Hyde in class 3 broke and axle, Peter Sowter was last stopped with a suspected engine problem and Gordon Tardrew had CV issues but finished the heat.
Heat 2 was won by another class 2 in Bill Coote from Warialda, as Anthony Lia lost time with an ignition lead failure. 2nd in the heat was David Nikiforoff with Michael Latimore 3rd this now put Michael in the outright lead due to 2 strong heat results. Billy Standing remained in 6th place and Warren Irons did a second heat on 4 cylinders which will be rectified overnight. Laurence Cripps finished the first heat in 9th place but a front suspension failure in the second heat put him out of the event. Simon Lennox moved into 15th place outright and 1st in class in the class 7 Pajero.
A presentation by a new club in Sydney of the Mini buggies is the final event for the day with racing to start at 8.30am.
