(a) Cars subject of a log book issued from 1st January 2011: A transaxle type transmission may only be used where the body of the vehicle is derived from one originally fitted with a transmission of this type. The gearbox, differential and axle housings are otherwise free. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just out of interest, will this mean that ANY type of transaxle body could be used, even if the transaxle of the original body is in the front, but the extreme 2wd has the transaxle in the rear. (as long as its still a transaxle)?
ie; put a ford laser front wheel drive transaxle body onto a rear wheel drive transaxle chassis?
I'm sorry for my ignorance but I didn't realise that your class was noted in your log book? I will have to check my logbook to make sure. So If I don't have it stated in my log book that I am an extreme 2wd or class 4 baja, as I believe it doesn't as I have run in class 1 throughout 2006 and on a couple of other times without being pulled up on this, Does that mean that I should hurry up and have that fixed in my log book before the end of this year?
"A car which does not comply with (a) but which has a competition history in Extreme 2WD prior to 1st January 2011"
covers the pre 2011 cars. If you have a history in ext2wd then you are not regulated out. I for one did not want to see existing competitors ruled out - just reduce the possibility of open slather buggies coming in.
Hopefully this will clarify things for those that are a little confused. From the very start of this task that i reluctantly volanteered to take on it was always the main priority to keep all those already in the class legal. This means that the Off Road Rush vehicle is still legal in the class. The new rule is not perfect for what alot of the class would like for the future direction of the class but was a simple stop gap rule to hopefully stop anymore buggies with truck bodies entering into the class. One other point i would like to make is that there were around 50 class competitors wanting something done with the rules and 4 were happy with the rules as they were. This shows that it just wasn't for my own benifit and i can assure those few that question my reasons for pursuing this outcome that it was entirely for the good of the class. I would not have continued with the task if at any stage i felt that i was not backed by a large majority of the class. Yes i may have written a few passionate emails to enstill some action but these were written with all good intent to get people to tell me what they wanted. People who know me well know that i would not be doing this for my own personal gain and you only have to ask my wife and she will tell you that i'm not that smart to think of doing that. Hope this clears up a few points. If anyone has anymore questions please ring me and i will talk to you personally so the truth will prevail. Thanks Gavin 0412061789
Hey Gavin, don't try to make out that you are different to anyone else please, the fact is that if you ring any of our wives they will all tell you that none of us are that smart.
