I apologise for not writing on the forum earlier but typing is very slow for me.All though it may appear that not much has been happening there has been a lot of work done by a few, in the background to get this club off the ground.
At our first meeting which took place on October 26th last year, a committee was formed to look at regulations for both social and racing buggies. The Groover AKA James after consulting one member of the regs committee submitted some specifications to CAMS, about the 14th of November.
At the October meeting our club name Sydney Mini Buggy Club was accepted as well as our by-laws and some temporary positions were elected.I had planned to post these minutes here but things got away from me and it was January before I know it. A copy was sent to Elaine.
The second meeting was to take place at Colo Heights. This did not occur due to various circumstances. Some people were disappointed that the official training for marshalling did not take place and one or two were left with a feeling that the SMBC is an inconvenience to SORRA.They have been reassured that this is not the case.
Our February meeting did not take place because there were not enough people to form a quorum. We had three apologies and two people present.
There is an AGM on Tuesday 22nd of March at the Sportsman Hotel, 81 Kildare Rd, Blacktown at 8pm for anyone interested in the Sydney Mini Buggy Club (SMBC).I am currently ringing all the 29 interested people I have on my list to try to boost interest in this meeting.Emails did not work last time.
Unfortunately I won't be able to attend your AGM as I will be on Holiday then. It is very difficult to organise training of officials if they all wish to do the one thing. To organise an event either Social or Competition you need the following positions to be filled.
Club Chief (Clerk of Course) - In charge of the event, needs to organise and oversee all positions. Steward - Ensures that the event is run safely and to the NCR'S and Supp-Regs. For Social events the Club Chief can also do the role of the Steward. Event/Permit Secretary - To do the paperwork, apply for a permit, take the entries etc. Scrutineer - to check the vehicles for safety issues Start/Finish Flag Marshall First Aid Competition only - Timekeeper to record times and publish results.
I am hoping that we will hold an event in June 18th & 19th when people interested in filling the above roles can work with those already doing them. It is no use having six people wanting to do the flag marshall if no one is willing to do the other roles.
James came to our last event and on Saturday worked as Recovery and on Sunday he had several runs on the Giddy Giddy track along with the Buggies. As he has done this training he can now apply for a Official's Licence.
Good luck with your next meeting and I hope the people that feel it's taking too long come along and help you get it moving.
I'm aware we need several different qualified people but listing all the different positions is very helpful and Ill take this to the meeting for discussion.
Elaine much earlier we discussed that some positions people have to stay in that position for the whole meet and others do not. I not sure which ones are which so can you correct my assumptions if they are wrong. I think People acting in the positions of Club Chief and Steward have to keep that position for the whole meet and cannot take part in any events.Other positions such as Events/Permit Secretary hold their position but work load permitting can take part in events.Scrutineers, Star/Finish Marshalls, flag Marshalls and First Aid person do not have to stay in that position for the whole meet. They can swap with other qualified personal.
I hope that the club will start to pull together and we get some teamwork happening and fill all necessary positions. So we will be much closer to running our owen events and helping out with SORRA & SMBC combined events in the future.

The last meeting there was a big mix up. Ian Iorns and Gorden Tardrew tuned up on Monday night, one night to early. On Tuesday night Cameron Petaie and Micheal Scafone were at one end of the pub, Nathan Chevis and my self were in the meeting room and we didn't see each other, so the meeting didn't happen. There were also a couple of apologies, so there is interest in the club, but we still need more people. James Hehir has had the training and as far as i know he just has to do the on line questionnaire to be qualified.
I'll let every one know about this meeting soon, by group email.
