The "I Laughed Way Too Early Award"

Just wondering who won the "I Laughed Way Too Early Award" at Wittitrin when they saw the trailer full of Golf Carts - errr I mean Polaris Buggys pull up and then had one come 3rd outright in front of them???

I am sure I heard "FORE" every time they went to pass someone.

Well done to them - it sure looked like a hard way to do it.

i watched that the other day,i thought the polaris got smashed cause the camera was on spizzo but when the polaris came back on he wasnt that far behind,i thought they were great to watch and looked like they were having a ball, the cost and the level of the cars has taken a lot of the fun out of it,so bring back the fun,,,

Considering that they have added a heap of weight in bar work which has caused them to loose about 10 - 15kph of their top end.

Wait until someone turns up with a new 900xp polaris.  The new ones without mods beats a 800 turbo polaris.  This what I wanted to race but was concerned as no one could make up their mind as to what "safety mods" had to be done.

And don't worry gentlemen, the add on list for these things can get out of control as well.  This is why in the end I found myself buying an old beam buggy to race, well I will race in the near future.

Cheers

Thanks guys i will pass onto the others :) ( i was in the orange one that placed 3rd)

Yeah it sure was the hard way to do it, concidering it was only our second time out in them, and first time in a long course.

Hopefully will be back next year!

i think at a state level the beam cars are fine, when i was rebuilding my old beast last year(its been sitting under the house for ten years)i was told that i would be shocked how much faster all the cars have gotten, i have only had three short runs,no shock yet,the car and myself still arent sorted,(definitly national level is a lot faster),what top speed do the polaris do?

Best we have gotted out of them is 95 Klms and that was down the landing strip @ Wittitrin .

They are currently on their way to Alice Springs for the Finke. So we will see how they go out there.

I hope you have BIG rear vision mirrors. There will be lots of big cars like the Attards at Finke. Win, lose ar draw you will love the experience.

Got to say I am very uneasy about the prospect of these little cars with a top speed of 95 kph been on the same track as one of these monster cars doing 220 kph. I know they comply with the rules but some common sense should be used.

i think you will find that the 220kph car should be in front of the 95kph and if not then the follwing car should use use common sense as when over taking any other car on the track. good on these guys for having a go. and proving that power and speed anrt everything and reliablity will win out in the end.

See the Polaris (760cc one ) came 3rd in Class at Finke and only 6mins behind 2nd place , a 3litre GQ Patrol.

The smaller engined one just ran out of late time.

Congratulations to all the finishers at the Finke race. Especially the NSW crews, Buddy Crowe 5th outright, Wayne & Matt Attard ,2nd in 2WD Class, Paul Grant, 3rd in 2WD class, Gary Simpson 4th in Prolite, The Commodore Boys ,Ashley Weinert and crew, in thier new 4wd Hilux , Mark Everliegh pro

Comiserations to the rest,  a valiant effort . There is always next year for another try to improve your position.

Matt Martin, the Del Santos, Paul Ritchie, Malcom Bird , Adam Ollerton and Glenn Towers
