The organising committee for this years Airport Challenge held another meeting over the June Long Weekend.
Key personnel positions have been filled and the basic format has been decided.
The event will be a short course Saturday with an expected total distance of about 70km. Sunday will be long course with an expected distance of about 170km.
Glad to see competitors getting in early to enter at the cheaper rate. Please take advantage of our email service send your entry to modernmotors@bigpond.com. On another point our regular sponsor, The Nabiac Hotel is fully booked for that weekend, so if your not camping at the grounds you will have to look towards Tuncurry or Taree for accomodation needs. The bus to and from The Nabiac Hotel will be running for those that would like to experience the night life in Nabiac on Friday and Saturday night contact details will be at the Clubhouse, please remember that a full face helmet takes longer to remove than your alimentary canal spasms.
Dear webmaster, glad to bring a smile to your dial, notice that you are experiencing off road withdrawls please feel free to visit and take home a big bucket of sand.
Cheers David(look out great mistakes council i'm coming to get you)
That old Sowter bloke has been trying to get me in one for a fair while now, but if I do it will be behind the wheel of my own.
Cheers
David
"Young Pete" has a single seater so I hope he wasn't trying to get you to go for a ride with him. Occy strappping people to the roof doesn't meet CAMS regulations. Although they do have some strange rules.

Have updated entries, as of 9.oo am today. Weather is looking spectacular up here, with light showers predicted for the week and the weekend being the usual midnorth coast magic.
It's 7.00pm and I'm sitting at road closure point 1 wondering if I should go back when this heat is finally over. Last night at the Nabiac Hotel was awesome, thanks to Tony Guy, Bob the copp, Jimbo Kearl and Paul Grant. The beasts on the lawn, as I'm going to refer to it created the interest that we hoped for, with our locals suitably impressed, btw guys the bloke in the clown suit was an import. Saturday has been very hard work and I'm not just talking about the organisers, our mildly moist track is copping a hard time with the last heat having to be red flagged and restarted because 4 got bogged on the first corner. I expect lots of time will be put in tonight and Greg and I will have to have a good yarn to see what we can do for tomorrows heats. Thanks for listening, I'll go back and face the music now.
Cheers
David( I didn't know I had to teach people to count)
Home now, absolutely stuffed, how you crazy competitors can drive home after what we put you through over the weekend is beyond me. Much better day today, however 4 season in one day should remain just a song. Should have some results emailed to me tonight and will put them up here asap. Many thanks to all the great people that I met over the weekend, it made it worthwhile when it's appreciated. This is the first time that I have been this involved in the running of an event and I have far more respect for those that choose to donate their time to do so.
I will be getting a copy of results emailed to me and will place them up asap.
Should I do that here or under the Events section.

This may seem a silly question but after checking other websites and the event results above I'm confused who won. Was it Mark Everleigh in 929 or Damien Penfold in 929? As Pauline would say "Please Explain" :)
People out there can educate me on how this works. In rallying we would call it double entered, Damien was definately driving 929 and won. Both were on the entry documentation, I was made aware of who was driving what and in between being informed and those results being displayed have failed to notify the correct person.
I have removed the results because in my ignorance there was information outside the results that should not have been made public, I apologise for that to the person/s that, that affected and as soon as my computer illeterate brain can figure it out I will repost the results.
Our club is very rally orientated, we conduct , weather allowing, up to 8 motorkhana, 8 khanacross, 6 autocross and 2 state rallysprints at that venue, in addition the club annually runs a multiclub rally that is held in the forests west of Taree.
We hold only one offroad event a year and it is very difficult to get our heads around, as prepared as we think we are there are obviously things we can do better, I hope we get the opportunity to do so.
Attention to detail can be somewhat difficult with Off Roaders. Keeping track of the right Driver can be difficult but keeping track of the correct Co-driver/Navigator is sometimes next to impossible. Some competitors seem to have a "she'll be right" attitude and I wasn't necessarily referring to the Everleighs/Penfolds. Congratulations to Damien and also the the CNCSCC team for apparently another good event.
We had a top weekend except for the last heat on 3 cylinders in the thunder, lightning and rain/hail.
Dave (Did a pretty good job) Weller, if you are struggling for recovery people try Murray Slana and his crew who do the 2 events at Milbrodale every year. They do a brilliant job and could probably be conned into Nabiac as well as its not far to travel.

A great event: Congratulations CNCSCC, this club took adversity in there stride and cleared every hurdle . The flexible attitude off the nabiac Club suites off road to a tee ; an absolutely BRUTAL event loved every minute of it good stuff
So I believe David finally got his butt into a buggy? What did you think??
Next time get yourself into 405 for a run!
No buggy ride for the big fella, his butt is too big for most. Imagine my surprise though when I did the dummy grid walk prior to Sundays reccon and spotted a very familiar face sitting in the pass seat of 405, my wife, the event secretary is still smiling.
We had partially arranged for all officials to go into a draw and the winner was to recieve a lap with Jimbo, as it as arranged at the last minute and as we ran behind schedule so much, this ride was cancelled, but many thanks to Jimbo for being so available.
Our Ride of your Life promotion went well, our major sponsor The Nabiac Hotel purchaced a ride in 405 and a local community radio station 2TLP gave us promo for another ride, which was in Phillip Page's buggy.
Both those rides were conducted after prologe on Saturday, again many thanks to Paul Grant and Phillip Page for being a part of the show.
Cuz Ralph from 2TLP conducted inertviews with everybody he could and on saturday afternoon at 5.00pm he played them on the station, the idea of course was to play that trough the pa system but as we were still racing that was not possible, however I am chasing cuz for a copy of that show and will try to get it out there as the interview with Phillip was in my opinion one of the best I have heard.
As the people at presentation heard, Director Greg Channon and his wife Tanya have retired from the event, he has wanted to do so for the last 4 years and we had found various means of persuasion to keep him coming back. This is of major concern as we do not have a replacement for them, we will try to address this at the club meeting on wednesday night and see what can be done.
We still want the event to continue and already some ground breaking ideas are out there, yes, ground breaking and we need to get saturday right, critical evaluation continues.
