I'm about to go shopping for some replacement shocks for my buggy and just wanted to make sure that i measure and buy the right one's,I currently run coil over bilstein,is it just a matter of measuring the extended shock shaft length to get the right size?i measured my shocks like this and they were 12" lengths,so i'm assuming i need to buy 12" shocks?is there anything else i need to know?also spring rates is that just a matter of weighing the buggy, finding its weight and spring rate to suit?.
thats how they work it out , though a 12" bilstien will have a differant bolt hole distance messurement than a 12" fox or king , due to longer body lengths , if you bolt them straight on they will most likely bottom out and brake the mounts or damge the new shocks :( i've changed the shock on my rivy and had the make new top and bottom mounts
in regards to spring rates , cheak out the sway a way web site , they explane in laymans terms all the messurements you need , hope this helps
