CAMS Cage regs??

I wondered how you get a car like a Jimco 2000 through CAMS cage regs?

The side bracing is 1 inch, not the required 1.5 inch, there isn't a longitudinal cross in the floor, the A pillar support doesn't go to the main chassis rail, the side bracing is an inverted V.. all of which is not in compliance with the CAMS manual posted here. http://www.camsmanual.com.au/pdf/05_offroad/OR05_OffRoad_General_Reqs(GR)_Q411.pdf

Jimco do a version they call "Aussie Special"
If you were importing a used one you would have to alter it to suit the regs before getting a logbook issued for it.
If you are looking at an old one in Australia you need to check the cams manual for the year it was logbooked.

Remember some changes in the rules are (forget the word)... everyone has to do it even on old cars. Some of the side intrusion stuff comes under this rule.

So the car below isn't legal unless it already has a logbook, or the side and floor bracing is replaced?

We're actually building a Tatum "Ausi Special" and I just want to ensure that I get the cage CAMS correct while ensuring it's as light as possible.

It will pass . They use to have to have an engineers certificate but the recent change in the rear hoop bracing rules allow them to pass without one.

Only the bars in the top diadram have to be the required size. The side bracing is optional and therfore can be 1''.

If in doubt ring CAMS. There is close to 20 Jimco 2000s (including mine) that have CAMS log books.

Would appear so.

Alan (ATB308) and I take the piss out of each other. Bryan (Yoda) has taken the wrong impression... and I have no idea as to who bumblebee is.
