I first started an interest in off road when I started Tafe in 1977, also the year I started apprenticeship. Going to Tech once a week meant required reading therefore buying all the issues as they came out of Off Road Australia, Overlander, Bushdriver, Dune Buggies & Hot VW's, Volkswagen Greats etc for at least that three year period, I still have them all! Memories.
"Then the SORE buggy from SA. That was the denver sponsored buggy then the funco which was Glen Ingrams and Glen bought the SORE BUGGY"
I seem to stick with the SA frames:
1. Mallee Master Frame - Lameroo
2. Sore Frame - ??
3. SS Raceframes - Waikerie
Does anyone have any info on SORE buggies, apparently from SA. After all the chops and changes to mine all that was left was the main hoop and two floor rails. It looked nothing like it did in the first log book.
I beleive SORE = Southern Off Road Engineering - Is this right??
if you go back over a fair time a heap of cars have come out of S.A. and still are. Mallee Master from the Bennet Bros.Bennet Trucks Strawbridge's Southern Cross for ages MK1 MK2 MK3 MK4 MK5 MK5.5 MK6. Interviewed Bob Track side one Year and he recons in excess of 500, Scorpions from the Pooles, Boss Funco and now ThorneBuilt, Razorback, S&S, RIds Joker. Add to the list OZ wide if you like
Wayne, your old car has alot of NSW History being the exJohn Borthwick car. That car has done more miles around NSW than TAA
Now here's an opportunity, with all this experience including a string of club championships to its credit, & no doubt many more km's in it yet & who knows, maybe more championships, it's time for me to move on to something newer. Yes 260 is up for sale (not the number though) with not one, not two, but three log books & all at a very realistic price (no motor or box). Feel very free to get in touch if interested. Wayne.

Is that one log book per each time driven to church?

New class? Pre 1988 buggies, cars, bajas, golf carts etc in pre 1988 specifications: Classic class? Nostalgia class? Get old racecars back on the racetrack class?
OK, ok, please chuck tomatoes... no more new classes! hahahaha.

mine was built in 88,when i cut some barwork out the tube inside was as shiney as the day it was built, wonder what the shelf life is for the moly cars???
Mine was built in 81. It's not still racing but would be if the stupid inspections hadn't come in. It's sitting in my workshop fully prepped. All dressed up with no place to go.
79 model comodore doesn't count. That was built by Holden tnen
If you ARE going to count that Trevor Spencer in WA is still racing a 1961 international scout. Most of the cab shell and roof is original metal. I think it's a rodeo chassis under it now.

My floor is riveted & sikaflexed on. I would guess it would be easier to chop the whole bottom of the frame out to make it comply with the new "bolt in or dzus fastner" rules, rather than weld the holes from the rivets up. If someone could assure me this was the last major rule change for the next ten years then I would do it but we all know it will be far from the last. All I want is to be able to do a couple of races a year & forgive me for saying but I don't want a sheep station, just to have a bit of fun. There is just way too much BS these days & not enough fun.
But floor needs to be removed for bi-ennial inspection......... which I still have not done this year yet. Also floor thickness may be incorrect, as mine was too.
Correct Jones, I don't know how thick mine is & it doesnt matter anyway as trying to get it off with the sikaflex will destroy it so I would have to replace it. Scrutineers can grant an exemption if they believe that the underneeth is ok. My club srut said rivets were "illegal" in a floor so I had no hope.
