revive this thread of old cars. was told about a buggy with log book of 136 race starts 80's built buggy this buggy is still VERY competetive can anybody guess the buggy
Any one have pics of Grahame Ropers old 1600/180b's? Did NSW rounds.
Dale Roper naved for Neville Boyes and my aunty dated him for ages.
Their friends with Pagey and that crew.
I still have the story and photos out of the Bushdriver mag of Tom Poots Sore special and the Funco
You cant copy it on here can you ??
I will try too
Recently bought the full set of Off Road Yearbooks off ebay and after spending hours reading cover to cover went looking for the old Bushdriver mags i had put somewhere safe...
Correct Jones, I don't know how thick mine is & it doesnt matter anyway as trying to get it off with the sikaflex will destroy it so I would have to replace it. Scrutineers can grant an exemption if they believe that the underneeth is ok. My club srut said rivets were "illegal" in a floor so I had no hope.
Hey Stingray,
I think i know how you can remove the floor from your buggy...and wheels...and trailing arms...and...shocks...and...
(for those that don't know - this is Stingray's buggy at Waikerie in 1984 when Glen Taylor owned it...i think)

Not so much classic cars, but classic event stickers...i'll post some cars up another day
The first event I remember going to was Dubbo in about 82 or maybe 84? anyway, Doug Ryans Bridgestone VW, Kieth Pooles clas 1 OME along with the Bronco that Stansfield drove for John Chapman all stood out, but not as much as Stevie Knot's BFG class2!

Thanks for that rivmasta9. The funny story of that series of pics was that Glenn tried to start it after the roll, for some reason it refused to fire. Maybe the fact that the cam was through the radiator & no longer connected to the head had something to do with it.
Some cars from the hunter valley that rate a mention Wes Shadlows Shadrac buggy the car Neville Boyes got his start in with its 2 point something litre VW engine with great big idf webers on it and big stinger exhaust ( read megaphone!!!!! none of these pussy mufflers cams flap on about ) , always sounded great . The three quick silver rivmasters of Harold Gill, Neville Boyes and Kelvin Page I think from memory all three won australian titles at some stage in the teams history . Tony Guys mid mounted 8v buggy that later became hedley's no mufflers there either in its early days.
Nott to mention the corvette would be a sin. Did rather well in an early Griffith race, maybe one of the first tin tops in an outright position, if my memory is right
The Corvette? Paul Knott?
1. Sea Lake 1986
2. Waikerie 1985

With the current trend towards restoring and racing classic cars for the tarbaby set, it got me to thinking... what would be the 10 most 'classic' offroad cars to be restored to their orignal specs and raced? And what shed are they currently hiding in? What condition are they currently in?
A few spring straight to mind:
Craig Martin's rivvy (essential for any-ones list I think!)
Crofty's home built class 2 which continually challenged at Kempsey?
Les's Aus Championship winning patrol?
Bob Mowbrays giant killing class 3?
Mark Burrow's Aus Champ beam car?
Murray Rogers first of the pop-off turbo rivvys?
But these were all before my time.... Im interested in the other cars people chuck in!

And ended up in the hands of Jeff Bryant before being sold to Neil Duck I think. Bring back the "vette
Competed at Sea Lake for the last three years as 190. Won NSW State Championship Prolite Class in 2010 & 2011 2nd Outright in 2011 NSW State Championship. Coverted to Super 1650 in 2012 and came 2nd Outright and 1st in Class at 2012 Colo Park Challenge (State Round). Still going strong.
The 190 frame that Mark Trees raced then Greg campbell and Tony from Tamworth was turned into Class 3 car 317 and was racing up until 2009 and is now hanging in roof of D & M Auto Electrics workshop in Bowral, but Geln scott's old car was raced as 190 for the last ten years and now is 290. In the hands of Glen Scott it won the Kings of Kempsey.
G'day All, I have the sister car to Tom Poots and built by him. It is a southern cross mk2 which had its first race at Goondiwindi in 1978 by Pat Collins.(Cams Log Book) I have started to restore the car which has been sitting in his shed for the past 20 years and hope to have it ready for the 2014 season.
