Info on Old school Patrol Diffs.

I have after a bit of playing around bent the Drivers side diff on my old Patrol, Im wondering if there are any guys on the site that would rememeber back into the 80's when a few of these MQ patrols were running around how they kept the front diffs from bending, it seems that the problem is right at the end, it may have bent the ball or something inside it, im going to change it to another i have but really want to get this one strong so it does not happen again. Here is a couple of pics of the diffs to try and help!!!

Would it be worth putting GQ diffs in?
Maybe contact Les Siviour?

Class 5 looks good about now.

Seriously though my mate used to do 4wd comp stuff in his and was always bending them. 3 that I can remember. He put Cruiser diffs in his.

GQ's is a huge job... they run coils. Im happy with the leafs at the moment. thanks for your replys anyways. Have been given a few other ideas to try and keep them straight! Lucky they are cheap, last set i bought cost $150, which included a whole car... sold the tyres for $100 and got $50 scrap for the shell!! and scored 2 diffs and sprare gearbox!

Jeromy, Never thought of that, but welding spring saddles to a gq diff should be fairly easy I thought? But then again, I race a buggy and don't deal with the hard stuff anymore!

Got a bare straight GQ leaf housing behind the shed if you want it. Its in Perth though.
Will drop it into a freight yard of your choice in welshpool. its not very heavy bare.
the knuckles look the same as yours though, might be the same diff? is yours a H233?

They bend at the neck of the ball. cut some 8mm flat bar to the profile and weld it on top and bottom. swing the knuckle back and forth and you'll see you can run the plates up a fair way.
the plates go on like the photos here:

GQ coily diff is about 100mm wider than yours. You'd be better off adapting your cab and rollcage onto a coily chassis when the time comes.
