If this sport is going to be serious about safety then a system like this would work, if anyone was at the back at Sealake trying to get to the front with 120 cars, the dust was probably the worst i have ever come across the only good thing was there wasn't a lot of trees to hit ,safety was a problem, And i know people say you have to drive to the conditions but that's not what drives us to be competitive. Might cost a bit more than seatbelt cutters though.
It is ok Greg, i just emailed them to get more info/costs etc for you. You just wait there and I will let you know what i find out. Ooops better put a smiley face here somewhere so VP knows i'm only taking the piss. haha.
Glad you have it sorted Gavin! I think we definately need something, but this unit would be a bit complicated for us 'simple' off-roaders. I think we need the overtake warning, and sos only....just my opinion!
I do think this is a good way to put some control on what is going on in the sport on the race track. On the weekend at sealake i started 49th had to pass a few cars. I was very shocked to see cars on the race track stopped in the dust. I allways try and keep moving in the dust not stop.
Have an update for you all. Apparently someone from Cams is looking into this system as well for use in offroading. Won't go any further than that at this stage so i don't spoil anything that cams has planned. haha.
Gavin did you use the words CAMS and PLAN in the same sentence ????? this should be worth the wait !!!!!!!!!! and by the way do we really need any more crap bolted in to our cars .

Come on scooter, don't be like that. I think it all depends on costs etc. If the system does all it claims and works reliably it should make our sport more enjoyable and safer for everyone. We will wait and see!
Watched Baja online last year and they had a GPS locater on every competitor which uploaded info on breakdowns, crashes etc. It was brilliant and the best part of the coverage and imagine how easy it would be in a race if a simple big light came on the dash when someone was 50m behind you wanting to overtake. This would have saved me a fair bit of money last year when some impatient moron caused me to roll by hitting me in a ridiculous overtaking manoeuvre when I was covered in mud and couldn't see him behind. Everyone talks about promoting this great sport and then has a hissy fit when things like this are suggested. Imagine sitting on the bank at Sea Lake or Finke watching a big screen with live updated positions all around the track and what actually happened to each breakdown or crash. Buggies are 2012 and attitudes seem to be 1970.
every one in single seaters, the navs job taken by technology, the driver will be next to go,a computer will do that job perfectly, come on,when do we start to enjoy racing again,we just keep spending money on stuff we dont need,,,,,
