I don't believe there is, but I assume as long as they are with in easy reach and you are able to detach it easily, there shouldn't be any problems. I'be got mine attached by a single cable tie to the roll cage. Easily snaps off. Another fantastic use of a cable tie. But I do suggest using a cheaper tie rather than the top quality ones that require an angle grinder to break.
Hey,
We used the PMD belt cutter with the incorporated hammer in our buggy due to the fact it had a mounting bracket supplied. We just cable tied the bracket to the bar work beside each seat and it worked great. The chief scrutineer at sea lake was happy with how it was mounted and where.
Cheers Nick
I think the preferred method to stay on the right side of scruitineers would be Velcro them to your side panels within easy reach of both driver and navigator. Spotlight sells velcro that has adheasive.
I wouldn't be so sure about velcro as in a big accident it might come off. The environment that they will be living would require something a bit stronger I think, but whatever keeps the scruts happy :) Oh and watch out for cable/zip ties. Use of zip ties has been frowned on by some as unprofessional in our sport, but then again those who did the frowning are....um....well. Next!
i had both of mine velcro'd on , found both of them under the seats after the first event !! i used approx 100 mm strip of it , the self adhesive tape is fine but the velcro couldn't hold up to the task , any one else got any other susgestions

Be carefull people might think your car is a bone breaker Jerremy, Besides your not supposed to use chainsaws to cut your belts. Mine are stuck on with velcro and they work ok, Soft car a bit like the owner.
mine are hanging verticaly , have you guys got them mounted horizzontaly ? don't know about being a bone breaker , mabe a pro lite killer would be more actuate gary :)

Mine are horizontally on the hip rails Jeremy . My cutters have a indent in the centre so it curves perfect to the tube.I had them velcroed on for sea lake and have washed the car 3 times and they're still as good as when I put them on. I got the velcro from bunnings. Stop bouncing off the trees will solve your problem Jeremy
i to have mine stuck on with velcro, on my roof pannel above my head. as i figured you going to possible upside down/on its side when using it, also keeps it clean up there.. and it has not moved yet. just finished colo. and it damm firm to come off.
welded and rivited and silconed and cable tied and duct taped ours to the frame didnt move a mm . we dont have to cut our belts to get out of them ,the belts we use have a latch on the them that opens .

Out of interest, my belt cutters are velcroed, and did not move at Griffith race. But....what I did do was take a cutter and tried to cut an old belt after the race, it had no hope, could not even cause a frey, and if you try harder, the blade will simply push into the handle rendering them useless,,,,,,,so the moral is dont rely on them, just unbuckle and get out like we have always done and save your belts for next time! I did however (by accident) find that they will cut a cable tie, so all is not lost, there may be a use for them after all! If you are keen on the idea, then I did notice a belt cutter in another vehicle that had a 'wheel' type blade instead of a 'stanly' type......maybe that might be a better option? BTW, as far as I am aware, my cutters are the same as the 'samples' that helped CAMs decide on the idea!
