hey mate,we bought 2 weddles but havent done enough miles to say what the wear and tear will be like, albins stripped mine down after colo,it was the first one they have pulled apart,i questioned him on what my chances of the vq30det killing it,he was very positive and said it should handle it,,i reseached the us forums and couldnt find anyone breaking them, they didnt like the cable linkages which we have,(fine so far),ian hill was looking at getting one(may be able to help you with prices and where to get one),my car is very limited in space so the weddle was my only choice without major surgeory, very simple and easy to mount, everyone thinks i will be the first to break one in australia, most are behind prolites,
I was looking at the HV1 Weedle .Because at sea lake I lost 2nd,3rd and 4th gears and wasnt going to throw money at a kombi box when everthing in it was new from albins ,I took it to Ron and found out that the plastic bit in the front bearing that holds the balls apart had fell out and gone into the selector. As everything was still good in it, we desided to do Rons case up grades . At the time Weedle Industries had them for sale for $7995u.s but just noticed on there website its now $7495u.s ,then $486 for the cable shirter ,then you have't to look at getting it over here.Ron and Ablins will sale it to you one. It may be a bit dearer, but you won't have the headache if you don't know want you are doing. The other option is to speak to cameron at racer imports he maybe able to do a deal to bring it over for you.
have spoken to ron, he is going to work out a price, and see what we can come up with, i wont go the cable shifter route, as they now do a soild link kit, that and the pro am shifter i ordered. should be a good package,
did anyone get any of the options with it? ie oil pump etc?
is that about the ball park for thesE? cheapest i have found is at dons bus box for $7000, i would expect to have it landed at around 8000 and then taxs and duty brining it about 9000?
weddle are $7495 minimum, any less are old listings, they were $6995 but the australian dollar put them up,weddle buys majority of the parts from australia, get the spray bar fitted,it was only $65 dollars,i run a pump ,my mate doesnt,if its in there you can set it up when your ready,i brought the boxs from the states at $7250 each,by the time we got them here we saved about a thousand a box ,the cable shifter was the biggest saving, about half the price of au supplied,if your going linkage probably easier to buy in australia,,,
so about 9000 landed, yeah i going the soild shifter, easy to fix at a track. more so then a cable. i was looking at the spray bar option. as well, so it sounds like the go. where did you get yours from?
we got them from transaxle engineering, jeff fields,.albins did a good price at the time because the dollar was good,if i had to do it again id probably get them here,,,
Hey, i am bringing a PBS box over from the US. $175 for freight in a container delivered to my capital. Costs more to get one freighted from anywhere around australia!!

I have often dealt with Jeff Fields, and can suggest they are trustworthy. We visited his shop last year and the blokes really know their stuff. Jeff is hoping to visit Australia later this year, and I know he would like to see a buggy race.....maybe Scotty can show him how his goes?
If you can get a box delivered to Long Beach (Wilmington), then I know a person (John Debrincat) who can probably get it to Rouse Hill for around $500 plus duties/gst on the box price.
jeff was fine to deal with,it all went smoothly,i highly recommend him, just a lot of mucking around for me,thats why i would probably buy local(price depending of course),,i think jeffs used to seeing 100 kittle cars racing,i dont think he is in to vintage cars,he goes to a lot of races in the us and somtimes hard to get on too...
i just not sure, pay the extra 1500 and get local and save the hassle? or get imported. still waiting on a price from ron, but i believe he has excatly the same price as albins

I actually found the opposite Scott, he is far more club style orientated. Pics on his wall, and his employees cars are beam style, and combi and swingaxle boxes were everywhere in his shop.
When he is hard to contact, he is usually at a country music festival, but Johnny is very knowledgable if you need advice.
We found them really down to earth, and more than happy to deal with club style racers!
Hey it was with an importer that brings in road cars from longbeach ca. That price is dropped at their depot and picked up at their unloading area in adelaide. I can give his details to you if interested, pm me....
The PBS is a 5 sp sequential that has 10" r&p and utilises albins internals. That retails for around $13k and is supposed to handle up to 475 hp in race trim..
Be aware that Albins have revised the capabilities of the AGB10 down to around 300 horsepower due to excessive wear or ring and pinion and failure of ring and pinion. With a standard Aurion motor we are going through 2 R&P's a season.Basically hard facing coming off crown wheel and bits of teeth breaking off pinion gear.
If the PBS has a Albins R&P then its not capable of 475 HP

oh,maybe dont use him,all the times he told me he was at the races he was out boot scooten with cow cockys,,,he gave me a good deal, and when he under quoted he when out of his way to honour it,,,,

Interesting. Albins stated I wouldn't have an issue with 700hp through my AGB10, and I've done it, without issue. The car has run between 440whp and 610whp for the last four seasons with no wear on the CWP. The only issue with the Albins I have is with the torsen side plates. I'm simply fighting the torsen with the cutting brake with in turn forces the worm gear into the sideplate.
The HV1 was only ever designed for 1650 and ecotechs! Anything else is stretching the capabilities, but if you can get away with it on a larger engine then its a good alternative for the price. It would have to be better than a combi or renault box. Even the AGB10 was meant for super 1650, but seem good in prolites, although there are increasing prblems as the prolite engines are getting so powerful. I would be careful of American advice, they seem to exagerate HP and speeds sometimes! I still cannot believe they have combi boxes that can finish the baja 1000, so the engines they use must not be as powerful as ours?
after talking to jeff about ratios,he had me geared to 160k and mainly use 3 and 4th,so i think they gear them down and only use the top gears, which is probably much easier on the box,,,,

What ratio R&P do you run ? Ours is a 5.43. Maybe not all ratios have the issue we are having.
And therein probably lies the answer. I purposely picked the lowest ratio before the pinion teeth ran thin. I run a 4.13CWP. There is a massive descrepency between ratios in terms of strength. Remember that all Fortins still run a 10 inch CWP and I'd put money on an Albins over a Fortin anyday.
we run the 5.14,,2.90-1.86-1.26-0.93,1 run the 33"s,the other prolites are running the same gearing as me,which i thought would be a bit tall with 33"s,but none of them are complaining about their ratios, have you been on the albins gear calculator?if not go on their website and download, will give you a good indication of drop between gears,,,,
