There's a lot of hype and confusion over next years AORC calendar! Will be interesting and exciting to see who are the rounds for 2013! Where will they be?
Hopefully things get sorted out in the next few months, there are some weird choices there on the face of it with little explanation. Hopefully those organisers affected get some useful communication and results. As said, the ORRinc contracts are a bit of a wildcard.
It's a mess again, hopefully an improvement on last year for the sport in general. I feel for ya Lamby, its one thing to tell them no thanks, but getting an application rejected for an established event is more than a bit rough.
to watch finke... was directed at me, makes sense if you read further up...
What do people think of an East series and a Central/West series, with the best of those being eligible to complete in a final round somehwere (perhaps Baroots? )

as someone relatively new to the sport, i dont have an issue moving the events around. id question why theyre doing baroota the same weekend as moorex though
vote with your entries, if you liked sea lake and pines, then support them again next year, even though sea lake is not a national next year i will be there all the way from qld. On another point it would be a great series for sealake, waikerie, millicent and moorex ???
Well that is me done for covering the National events next year. I have spent a lot of money and time traveling to as many National rounds as I can, including all of them this year. But there is no way that I can cover these events next year, I simply don't have enough annual leave available from the job that I actually make money my money from to be able to travel to these events, let alone the money to spend traveling to these events. The closest event to Melbourne is a 2000km round trip to Baroota. I don't race, so I don't get a say and that is more than fair enough. However, I am sure that there will be a lot of people who currently run all of the Nationals that simply won't bother next year if they have to do this much travel.
it also amazes me that they have chosen to cut the 2 events that have long standing and loyal sponsership from long time offroaders in ARB and ALBINS off road gear !!! i.e Millicent and Goondiwindi
Sorry to be rude, but what is moorex? In 25 yrs of nsw offroadracing I have never heard of it! Maybe some people need to realise that off road has other states than Vic and SA? When you really think about it, it actually started in Sydney,(kurnell) but qld will be upset! I know that the southern states my have more entries from ppan historic point of view, but maybe that's because no one else had has a chance? I reckon the coffs harbor venue has a great chance? Sorry for the mistakes, the iPod has a mind of it's own
Events still have to sign ORRinc agreements to be included so things could still change????
Very true. I dont understand why a calendar would be announced until all of thoe details are completed. If 3 or 4 of the events named decide they wont sign the agreement where does that leave the championship? I would imagine that the long standing events like Pines and Goondiwindi would hardly be happy at the present time so they may then ignore any late request to run an AORC event, leaving the championship in a mess. I personally feel very disappointed for the organisers of the Pines and Gundi as both have spent an enormous smount of time and money improving their tracks and facilities to improve their events and the championship as a whole and both supported the championship this year when they were really needed and now they are left with nothing.
Thanks for your support regarding the Pines, it's a huge kick in the guts after 9 years straight of being an AORC round to be told that you don't meet the criteria to be part of a "financially viable series".
Real sorry to hear the pines got dropped Lamby. You guys have worked so hard for many years. It seems really unfair. Can you please attempt to explain what a "financially viable series" means & was it AORCom or ORRinc that said you didn't make the grade.
What a disgrace, all those years of the Millicent Buggy Clubs hard work putting on the Pines at a National level. To be told its not economically viable, really... We love the Pines and will be there in 2013 irrespective of what series/championship its in. Combine it with Moorex, Waikerie and Sea Lake now thats a series.
Trying to get something in writing from them at the moment, as I don't fully understand their reasoning and criteria to be met. I have lost faith in all the groups that are controlling our sport at the moment.
