Its 2 weeks since I asked the question about Coffs Harbour so obviously no-one that reads SORRA has any idea about what this event is so how can any body comment about it. Best everyone waits till we hear from whoever makes the decisions before we get upset. Forget the rumour mill. We want the truth.

I am not sure if you guys have noticed as yet, but the dates for the coffs round are the same as the WRC event. Maybe this might have something to do with the rumour of a limit on vehicles. Might be fun getting accommodation too!!!!
what the? Any background on WHY people thought this might be a GOOD idea?

Stingray: Let's just pretend for a minute that the national series is Hyden, gas dash, finke, Gundy and something in Kalgoorlie. Then some guy from Perth compains that Gundy is too far to go. What would you think about his argument?
I didn't attend any national events, I'm a state competitor who is rebuilding the car as I can afford it to something that has a chance at taking out the class nationally through reliability. While I'm not driving I'm helping run events and doing what I can to help my club, I'm supporting every round of the national series by helping the state competitors race so they can develop to a national level if they wish and using my skills and contacts try to make state rounds as professional and safe as they can be. (clearly PR is not one of those skills)
What is misleading is claiming it isnt competing directly with the AORC. Lack of clear communication of intentions is what damaged the AORC so badly, please don't make the same mistake.
Maybe a true national series is too big for the existing offroading community in this country, maybe we do need to split the country in half. Maybe we need to have a decent crack at fixing what we have before taking our ball and going to play in our own yard. I don't know.

The 2013 AORC calendar makes it logistically and financially impossible for many off roaders to compete in, this newly formed ARB AORS gives them a chance to race in a series where competitor numbers will be up at AORC level (if not higher), costs will be down, promises wont be broken, more race km for your dollar and most importantly a family friendly environment we can all enjoy. We all know someone who would have been disappointed by the 2013 AORC calendar and this gives them an opportunity to still race a very competitive series on proven race tracks, to me that sounds like a pretty GOOD idea.
STILL don't know whats going on with the Coffs event, still don't know if it will be a drop one round Aorc series i would like to know as others do.
Does the ARB series not have a Cams involvment is this how it will be cheaper to run ? or have Cams got both series so who cares there still making money.
I suppose you have to attend races in 4 states to win it, so it's better than the 2012 AORC was in that respect. :)
"promises wont be broken" I wholeheartedly agree with that sentiment.
"most importantly a family friendly environment we can all enjoy" Do you mean the way some events are organised or that the travelling is not family friendly? If you have any suggestions on how events can be more family friendly please elaborate, I really want to know.
I hope all of this is a good thing for the profile of the sport in the long run. I'm not so sure at the moment.

I think people might be getting the wrong idea. This series isnt anti CAMS or anti AORC, these 4 events were going to run regardless, now they are running in a series together. No ones trying to set the off road world on fire here, the idea is to build a consistent series over the course of years to provide racers with an solid alternative. Seems to work fine in the USA. There are a lot of people onboard with many years experience organising events and an unquestionable passion for the sport, they want to have you at their races and you want to race, simple as that.

Understood... but of course people are going to compare them - afterall they are 4 AORC standard long course events in one series!
Great concept too by the way. :)

Yeah that's fine Danny if was only so easy to get an answer about the Aorc questions, insurance has always been a large percentage of the entry costs and someone has to run it, so the ARB series would be classed as a State level event by Cams so a lower insurance liability applies is this so. And in no way am i trying to downgrade it but anything that lowers costs can't be a bad thing.
I think it is a smart move to have put this together, it gives greater opportunities to more people without some of the BS hence a family friendly environment and a cheaper option.
I think you will find that running a "series" with rounds in multiple states actively seeking and encouraging competitors from other states to enter = CAMS calling the events - "National other" not "State" level.
You know i don't really care how they plan to make it cheaper or better, the competition between two events for entry's gives us as consumers a better product so game on!

which is called "ARB Australian Off Road Racing Series" which I assumed meant it was intended to be an alternative to the similarly named "Australian Off Road Championship". Did I get misled by the title? What's that world championship baseball thing called again?
Don't get me wrong I'm keeping an open mind but if you believe it won't diminsh what remains of the AORC, and if you think it isn't undermining the efforts of every person who is trying to restore it into something to be proud of then you're kidding yourself. You are definitely competing toe to toe with it no matter what the stated intentions are. If we hadnt had such a mess of 2012 I'd be all for it, but now I'm not so sure it's a good idea. Maybe we do need to split the country in half, I dunno. But please speak truth, poor communication is half of the problem.

I supported the aorc this year by attending events, how many did you attend to support the aorc? I will also compete in aorc events next year as well, they have great events and great people racing in them.

I fail to see how it's "missleading". If you want to pay a fortune & run the nationals, good for you. If I want to run a good value for money series, I now have an alternative. Something for everyone, how is that missleading.
Sounds to me like a group of races/organisers getting together to attract interest and entries. Been happening for years, nothing new or threatening about it, just common sense. Same way the tri-series started, nsw long course, the new NSW short course series. Just sounds like ARB would like to promote themselves in a high profile state race in numerous states.
Sorry, I still don't see what your problem is. There have always been "series" races other than the AORC. Nobody has ever complained about them before. There was the "Performance Metals Tri Series" this year which had events from Vic & SA. The concept of a series with events in different states already exists.
From my point of view the ARB series are providing something to fill the void ORRINC have created, a situation were long standing events were shown the door for a range of reasons that we will never know, So why shouldn't these clubs put on something more than a State event, if it rivals the Aorc then someone needs to look at the people running it don't you think, Gatton turned out to be a good race but ask a lot of us that were there and you might get a different story after Saturday's track recon.
So good on the people that had the vision to do something about it. I hope your series is a total success and good on the Browns for getting behind it.
Spot on Simpson. If you want to know where this series may have been born, you could take a look at the 2013 fantasy AORC on this very site. ORRInc have their agenda, let them go & test their theory. For the rest of us this series joins four very poular events that provide great value for money.
I am still wondering if there will be some response from orrinc? Too little too late.....but they had plenty of opportunity, as we have been asking questions for months! Good to see another series, cant wait for answers forever!....at least we all know EXACTLY what we can expect from the the ARB series.
