I have the same set up (different motor). On mine the gearbox case is cut away. I have the gearbox out of the buggy at the moment, I have taken some photos, hope this helps.

Hi guys we have a 2.7 Honda V6 that was mounted to a Kombi box running a Hi Torque starter, we have a un5 now went to mount it in and realised that the starter wont mount into the VW bellhousing because the un5 is wider than the bellhousing. Is there any fix for this besides a new adaption plate ?
