RE: HOW and WHAT

This isnt my story, but mine and Ricks. haha.

I met Rick racing slot cars against each other when we were 15 or 16. Between us we won the Parramatta club championship 3 times each in its first 6 championships... We were fierce competitors! Then Rick bought an old VW bush basher and asked me to help him get it running when we were 18 or so. It was based on pics of craig martins buggy from an offroad yearbook that Rick got from his parents when he was a teenager. Multitudes of VW variants followed all looking like mad max machines driven on a mates property in Marulan. Lots of carnage in those years... haha.

We competed in an event called the WACO Bush Bash held twice a year on the same property (and won it 7 times) and decided we were spending too much on bush bashers so bought an old Rivvy between us to do go real racing. First event was at Dondingalong in 2002.

To pay for our obsession we both work for Chris Western at Off Road Rush at Colo every 3rd or 4th weekend.

Gees he must pay you guys well....just one weekend a month? imagine the car you could have, if you worked during the week for 4 weeks of the month, like most of us.

You should try to get to a race on one of those other weekends that you have off.

talk about No. 1 engineering , thats how i got into the sport
went to school with dianne grant , she knew my cousin anthony lia from racing and suggested i should go to an event
went to the 1997 millbrodale mountain classic and was instantly hooked
became a mechanic though it didn't pay well enough in NSW to afford a car so i moved to the WA goldfeilds and brought my first car 4 months later !!
