Exhaust rules

Just wondering if there is a rule about exhaust pointing towards the ground?

How come a lot of cars out there have it facing the ground?

I know if you can face it at the ground i know it would save my dads hearing because his car is sending him deaf with the exhaust coming out right next to there heads.

it's in the General requirements section, shall point rearwards or sideways. must exit within 50mm of the plan view of the body work and aft of the centre of the wheelbase.
that means if you have a ute with no floor in the tray you can finish the exhaust just behind the cab.
I wanted to point mine upwards so the diesel particulates dont add to the dust so it's fairer to those racing with me. But I am not permitted.
