MICKLEFAB Buggy

The time has finally come to get this new BUGGY out there. Yes i said BUGGY not Truck. This new buggy is totally jigged exactly the same as the trucks. It is also the same dimensions being 85" wide and 118" wheelbase. It has been designed for class 10 in the USA and three are currently under construction over there. I have just received our first kit and jigging and have just started putting it together as one photo shows. I have put up some photo's of the American ones so you can get a good look at it without having to wait. Also a CAD drawing of the body design.

Will endeavour to answer all questions and will give more info as we go.

Will expect the usual banter with the website funny men of course!!

More to come

Only have to do rear shock mounts and top half is done.

Rear shock mounts are done which means it can now be removed from jigging and all welding completed.

Before anyone says anything attempting humour the RHS is not permanent!!

My first buggy was built by Stansfield. So I can't throw any stones!

I have seen the frame on the jig and all the parts that are going to make it up and it makes me want one...

Got the floor section done and then repositioned top half back on the jigs to make what they call a buggy.

It looks awesome Gavin, as usual top quality welds. Can't wait to see the new owner show how fast it'll be, if he drives it as well as his current car it'll be hard to beat. I like the exhaust on the motor in the back ground too biggrin

Back at it after a great weekend at Sealake. Truck 1 ran faultless all weekend with Ivan getting faster the more he drove it. Started 20th after prologue but moved up quickly during the race and finished 6th outright and 2nd in class right behind Danny Brown in his TTurbo truck. Truck ate up the jumps and rough conditions like I knew it would and now it has proved it to those who were there.

Back to Buggy stuff.

Front section all done so now it is time to do front shock mounts and upper arm mounts.

Just sorting out what configuration to do in the main hoop and checking with Cams on what is legal etc. As it will probably have to be engineered/certified we will possibly do the same as the truck which has a upside down V where the diagonals should be and an other bar in the centre of the roof to join the top of the V. It adds more strength to the centre of the hoop in the advent of a roll over and more strength in the roof area.

Thanks Garry. Hope to have some pictures of the body soon.

Upper control arms are the same for both sides.

Lower control arms are simple but strong.
