Wolf you asked for someone to play the Devils Advocate. I'll give it a go. What would happen to "real off-road racing" if some of the off-roaders like yourself and Rick had a go in a mini-buggy decided you liked them and realize for the price of your big buggy you could both have buggies. You then Defect to the mini-buggies, to lead a revolt and SORRA becomes a mini-buggy only club
nyuk nyuk... granted I am fairly revolting, but offroad is as much an obsession as a sport. For me it'd be like going from v8 supercars to legends, or sprintcars to f500's.
Wait till you see the tracks at Milbrodale or Warialda for a 200k event, or a national for a 400 to 500k event, or the new track at donald which I read is 600+ - I dont mean to offend when I say mini-buggies would be a good feeder class - but when you're talking about racecars being sold second hand for $100,000+ (so you can imagine what a new top-line buggy is worth) you can understand how serious we can get.... :)
Mind you, I wouldnt be adverse to having a run in a mini-buggy if one was offered!
I really would like to see you guys get somewhere to race, and as said earlier, I believe it could only be mutually beneficial.

I am all for bike motors, and am currently building a bike powered buggy to CAMS specs. Its interesting to note that the second class 9 to and from Finke was a bike powered buggy and in the top 15 or so outright.
I do however tend to agree that an edge buggy beside a Jimco off the start line would have to end in tears/pain. That said, at a full scale off road event they could provide some pretty entertaining racing on a short spectator course after prologue or racing proper has finished. I look forward to seeing how it goes.
The big vs small debate is apples and oranges anyway (Im talking about edge sized buggies here, not the class 9 that ran at Finke or the car you've got planned). The mini buggies (edge buggies) wouldnt run on track with us, or even on the same track layout as us so there's no need to compare them.
They've both got strenghts and weaknesses on different terrains and track sizes, and Im sure both would be a hoot to drive!
