Trying to decide how to do the fuel system on my class 4 truck. Originally I was going to have 2 separate fuel systems starting with a surge tank in the fuel cell, then 2 Carter's drawing from the surge tank through 2 filters and pick ups, feeding straight in to 2 044 pumps, then check valves and filters and then into a Y fitting and on to the regulator at the engine. But now I'm thinking of doing away with most of that and mounting both 044s in the surge tank in the fuel cell. Any thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated.
How are you filling the surge tank? I have 2 facet pumps, on a separate circuits with a high pressure pump, filling the surge tank, and then the corresponding high pressure pump drawing from the surge to the engine. The return into the surge and then back to the main tank. Filters before facets and after high pressure pumps. I have a 3 way switch on the dash for each system and both off to raise oil pressure prior to starting.
Hope this helps.
we run a in tank system and it works fine , we run a single bosch pump in a liitle tank in the main tank we run the return line strait too the little tank .
Thanks for the reply kick my dog. I was originally going to have an external surge tank filled by 2 carter lift pumps on seperate circuits, and have 044s drawing from the surge tank on corresponding circuits.
Thanks dessert-people, I think that's the way I'll go. 2 044s mounted in a surge tank in the bottom of the fuel tank on individual circuits. That gets rid of the lift pumps, external surge tank and a lot of fittings.
