Just interested to know what going on with the AORC this year? Now with a another round cancelled. Is it cost of entry or people lacking interest in running in them
I will only speak for myself. I have zero interest at all in competing in an AORC event just because it's an AORC event. The cost of entries in my opinion is not good value for money.
The ARB series on the other hand continues to attract competitors in good numbers & I believe represents good value as well as using the best tracks that are available.
The AORC will never attract high numbers of competitors anymore, the game has changed. The vast majority of off road competitors simply don't have the cars or budgets needed to compete at the top level. They can continue to get reasonable event numbers by combining National, State & club events like Waikerie but that will involve them using tracks that people actually want to race on.
I think we need to accept these days that there will only be a core of around around 20 vehicles that will actually compete in an AORC series, that will make it difficult to promote but I think that's the reality.
I think the divide a few years ago was a good thing, both the ARB & AORC can run side by side with both catering for different groups. The AORC needs a new model & maybe some new blood in the admin but I think things will improve from here.
