Hi everyone, just joined up- Wot a awsome site you have.We must be stuck in the rock ages in n.z. Looking at the quality of your wheels over there maybe I got the topic wrong. Perhaps it should be - kiwi chasing a roo!. Any way hope to be able to share and gain knowledge from you all.I am about 70-80% through a n.z class three rebuild. I am one of the last (2) in n.z running a carby fed ford 1600cc sohc engine ( it cost me a f----- fortune and is yet to go on dyno!)hopefully it last longer than my (2) engines last season. I have built this motor for low down torque and hope to gain 150hp on dyno. I am running a standard 1800 bust box with close ratio 3rd & 4th gear but are picking I may run into trouble in the very near future with new engine hp!. Bust boxes are becoming a little rear over here and my budget is getting a little thin.Race prepared bust boxes are rather expensive on this side of the ditch! but i have seen a lot of low mileage albins geared and chrome moly diff head boxes for sale in oz. problem is i dont know anyone over there!. I can post or email pics of some of our local club meets for any one interested. Also i am planning to scratch build a class 1 buggy in 2007 for 2008 season. Any chassis input would be much appreciated!
Hope to hear from anyone interested in liasing with this kiwi!
Re ur post, Im sure that if you find the right box at the right price most aussies wouldnt mind couriering it to NZ for you as long as youre paying for it... and you throw in a bit extra... say the cost of a case??? :p
Send me pics of you car, club meets or anything and I'll get them up once Ive got the site working properly again.
Actually, if you wouldnt mind could you explain class structure in NZ?
As for advice in building your own car... Unless you're doing it full time and paying 2 fabricators to build it budget for twice the amount of time you thought it would take and about 50% more money! haha!
