LUCKY CUSTOMERS!

Just set up the office for the day. Customers waiting get to watch the 2006 Finke dvd. Maybe we won't get much done today either.

What did people think of the FINKE dvd? Watched it completly last night, I was a bit disappointed!

I realise buggies account for about a quarter of the field, but does that mean we should only get a quarter of video time? Did Bently's Cabin Park sponsor the video? (no offence to the bently's).

Showed a lot of bikes doing 2 foot high jumps, what about the buggies doing 6 foot high ones?

I appreciate the work done by the Finke committee, but this event is the best I have ever been to, only a little bit more effort would make the dvd coverage the best also! Especially with the amount of footage that must have been obtained by the helicopters etc.

Is it just me whinging again?

p.s. Got to feel sorry for the quad bikers--they are champions!

not to knock those organising, because they are doing a great job, but where were the car classes? There were mainly shots of bikes and not much on buggies and even less on cars.

I don't think I saw any class 7's, only 1 class 8 a few 4's and 5's, and mainly the top running buggies.

Aren't class 5 and 7 the entry class? Then shouldn't we be encouraging growth in these classes? I know Pickering in his class 7 Mitsubishi was there and i'm not sure if there were any other class 7's, but they did not get seen in the video. I can only remember a few class 5 shots, but don't know who it was. In my opinion class 7 should be promoted more as it is the smallest class in terms of national entrants and there aren't even that many in most of the state rounds across Australia

What did any one else think

Yes this years video was poor even by Finke videos usual low standard.

One frustrating thing was that they kept showing the cars leaving out of order so it was hard for anyone that actually new the results to even work out what was going on.

The Finke commitee contract the video production out to Imparja TV so I doubt whether they have much control over the quality or the content.

I haven't seen this years DVD, but I have seen some previous years coverage, and it appears as if the Finke, or more to the point a lot of the people behind the Finke, are still more interested in the bikes than they are in the cars.  I have video's from a couple of years at Finke and I would say that 75% of the coverage is the bikes.

This was my 3rd Finke, and the best yet. It was my 3rd video, and the worst yet!

I realise that there are 400 plus motorbikes some years. And that the origins of Finke started with motorbikes, but in financial terms the top 10 buggies/cars (or maybe 5) racing this year would have more dollars invested than all the bikes combined....this alone should be more incentive for better quality tv/dvd production and more airtime.

We thought the customers would like it as they allways ask about the racing with great interest, lack of continuity & short (very) shots of vehicles in action left them bored & uninterested, very sad !
